Like stainless steel, aluminium towel rails tend to have a higher price tag, but for good reason. Aluminium is a highly versatile material and has a wide range of uses, from cans, tin foil, window frames, and even aeroplane parts! But what makes aluminium good as a material for a towel radiator? It’s a good thermal conductor, corrosion resistant and long lasting. Corrosion resistance is a particularly beneficial characteristic of towel radiators because of the damp towels that will be hung on it.
StyleA popular pick for those looking to add a touch of design to their bathroom, the flat tube style offers a sleek feel that will work with pretty much any décor. Horizontal flat tubes are connected to two vertical square tubes (these are called collectors) on either side of the towel radiator. The powder painting gives the metal a perfectly even finish and It’s easy to maintain and clean – get those towels nice a toasty for when you step out the shower!
Colour
Anthracite is a high-end variety of coal noted for the purity of its carbon and the dark grey smoke it emits when burning. It’s also one of our customers’ most popular picks for a modern-looking towel rail that looks as good as it functions. The smoky matt finish you achieve with this colour is quite unlike any other and produces a stylish effect with even the most minimalist design. As we become more conscious of our surroundings, tastes shift from the functional and the merely decorative to something combining qualities of both, and anthracite towel rails certainly tick all of the boxes.
Heat SourceThis electric towel rail comes with an electric element and works completely independently from any other heating system you may have in your home and so is ideal for those bathrooms where you can’t access a central heating system or maybe guest bathrooms rooms that very rarely used. This independence is ideal for summer, providing warm toasty towels without turning on the boiler - saving energy and money.
AccessoriesThis towel rail is provided with everything required to hang the rail on the wall - brackets & masonry fixings, chrome bleed valve and blanking plug as well as all the accessories needed for the electric functionality. The electric kit includes an electric element, liquid inhibitor and instructions, an extra blanking plug for the bottom entry that won’t have the element installed. The element can be installed on either the left or right hand side of the towel rail - whichever is better for your set up.
The Element
The Talus standard element offers simple on/off control over your radiator or towel rail. Simply install into the towel radiator and then wire this element into either a switched fused spur or one with timer capabilities for more control.
Delta (Δ) Ratings Explained
What is a Delta (Δ) Rating?
When discussing heat outputs, the Delta rating is the difference between the temperature of the water inside the heating system and the desired temperature of the room.
What does the value represent?
In simple terms, this value is about heat loss. Heating a room only works, if the radiator output exceeds the heat loss of the room.
We use this calculation to make it easy to choose a radiator that will have a heat output that exceeds the heat loss of the room when connected to your heating system type.
If you don't know the room heat loss, you can use our calculator to find out.
What Delta Rating should I use?
- Δ50 = Gas boilers before 2005 / Oil boilers before 2007.
- Δ40 = Gas boilers after 2005 / Oil boilers after 2007.
- Δ30 = Low temperature systems e.g heat pumps.
Watts & BTUs (British Thermal Units) Explained
What is a Watt?
Watts are our main unit of energy/power in the UK, commonly associated with lightbulbs and Home Energy performance certificates (EPCs).
What is a BTU?
BTUs are the unit of measurement used to portray a radiators heat output and a rooms heating requirement. 1 Watt is equal to 3.41 BTUs.
Why are they important?
We buy radiators to heat our homes, right? So, we need a way of knowing if a radiator is powerful enough to heat the room that we are shopping for - Watts and BTUs provide us with a value that makes its easier to compare radiators and ultimately choose the right one for our heating requirement.
Need help figuring out how much heat your room needs?
Our fast and easy-to-use BTU calculator can help you:
- Work out a heating requirement value (in BTUs & Watts) for your room
- Show you in-stock radiator recommendations that can fulfil this heat requirement

Faulty thermostat meant radiator didn't work. UK radiators dealt with this very promptly by sending a new one and a refund for installation. Radiator is now working, thank you UK radiators
Brilliant radiator
