      FAQs

When it comes to standard coloured radiators, they’re just as efficient as white ones. Almost all standard radiator paints (white, black, anthracite, red, blue, etc.) have an emissivity rating around 0.90 to 0.95, which basically means they emit thermal radiation at nearly identical rates regardless of pigment. In simple terms: it doesn’t matter what colour you choose – you just need the right heat output to ensure your radiator is heating your space as efficiently as it can.

That said, the finish of your radiator can impact efficiency. Polished brass, chrome, and polished stainless steel all have low emissivity and can emit 10%–20% less radiant heat than a painted rad of the same size. But at UK Radiators, we independently verify our heat outputs. This means the information we include on our product pages is accurate, whether you’re looking for a standard painted radiator or polished brass. You can rest assured that you’ll get the heat you need – no matter the colour or finish you choose.

Nope – radiators absolutely don’t have to be painted the same colour as the walls. In fact, being intentional with what radiator colour you choose can make a huge difference in how your space looks. For example, gold stands out beautifully against both light and dark wallpaper, and brings a feeling of luxury into your home.

We offer a huge range of coloured radiators for you to choose from, including anthracite, black, white, grey, brushed brass and gold, alongside bolder, more colourful shades like pink, red, green and orange.

Why wouldn’t it? A coloured radiator looks great in your bathroom as it does in any other room of the house. All you have to do is pick your favourite. Our coloured radiators for bathrooms also undergo 200-hour salt spray testing so you know they stand up to the steam and splashes of everyday life.

Nope! Treat your brand-new coloured radiator as you would any other radiator. When it needs cleaning, wiping it down with a soft, damp cloth will usually do the trick. Just try to stay away from abrasive materials like metal scourers, as this could potentially damage the finish.

Start by using our BTU calculator to find the heat output you need for your space. Then, you can measure the gap on your wall for the specific size you need, and take it from there. If you're still unsure, our friendly team can talk it through before you order.
