How single and double convector radiators work

In a convector radiator, the hot water fills a small tube at the base of the appliance. This tube is surrounded by aluminium convector fins that act as heat exchangers, increasing the surface area of contact with the ambient air.

Double convector radiators emit more heat than their single convector counterparts as they have double the layers of convector fins. This added fin further increases the surface area and helps to maximise the heating output.
