      Frequently Asked Questions

Whether a radiator is traditional or not comes down to style. Traditional radiators take their cues from the stunning designs of the Victorian and Edwardian era, with column tubes and ornate, cast-iron-inspired detailing. Because of this, they work wonderfully with period homes and heritage-style bathrooms, but that’s not to say they don’t work in modern homes as well – they totally do!

We generally advise against putting a normal radiator in a bathroom. Why? Because bathroom radiators undergo special testing to ensure they stand up to the steam and splashes of bathroom life. Take us, for example – all our bathroom radiators are put to our 200-hour salt spray test. That’s how you know they won’t rust.

Absolutely. Sure, they may look vintage, but trust us when we say the technology is current. You can get a traditional bathroom radiator for any of these three options:

      • Central Heating – This runs off your existing boiler, which makes it the standard choice for most homes. When your heating switches on, so does your bathroom radiator.
      • Electric – This type of heating works independently of your central heating, which is super handy if you want warmth on demand – like when those chilly autumn nights start to roll in.
      • Dual Fuel – With these, you get both electric and central heating.

If you’re looking for a period theme, you can’t go wrong with a classic white or cream. Or, if you want more character, warm metallics like brass and gold, or a striking black, lean into that stunning heritage feel.

How efficient a traditional bathroom radiator is has nothing to do with its style; it has everything to do with whether it’s sized correctly. As long as the radiator is the right size for your space, it’ll heat your bathroom up to a comfortable temperature without wasting energy. But to get the correct size, you also need the right heat output. That’s why our verified BTU outputs are so important.

You may be tempted to reach for that tape measure straight off the bat, but start with the heat output of your room first. Our BTU calculator works this out for you, and then you can pick a radiator that hits that figure and fits your wall space.
