Steel offers the lowest price tag compared to other materials, but it also offers the most diversity in terms of colour and style. Steel is a highly durable material which is important as towel rails are going to be the victims of some knocks and bangs over time and you want them to withstand that.
StyleA popular pick for those looking to add a touch of design to their bathroom, the flat tube style offers a slimline feel that will work with pretty much any décor. The Agar has equally spread horizontal flat tubes which are connected to two vertical round tubes (these are called collectors) on one side of the towel radiator. It is completely reversible, meaning you can have the collector tubes (the vertical ones) on the left or right hand side. This open-ended design makes guiding towels on and off super easy. The powder painting gives the metal a perfectly even finish and It’s easy to maintain and clean – get those towels nice a toasty for when you step out the shower!
Colour
Anthracite is a high-end variety of coal noted for the purity of its carbon and the dark grey smoke it emits when burning. It’s also one of our customers’ most popular picks for a modern-looking towel rail that looks as good as it functions. The smoky matt finish you achieve with this colour is quite unlike any other and produces a stylish effect with even the most minimalist design. As we become more conscious of our surroundings, tastes shift from the functional and the merely decorative to something combining qualities of both, and anthracite towel rails certainly tick all of the boxes.
Heat SourceThis dual fuel towel radiator works both as part of your central heating and independently using electricity. This enables you to keep your bathroom warm over the winter by relying just on the central heating system while also being able to use the electric element to dry your towels during the warmer summer months while the rest of your heating is turned off.
AccessoriesThis towel rail is provided with everything required to hang the rail on the wall - brackets & masonry fixings, chrome bleed valve and blanking plug, as well as all the accessories needed for the dual fuel functionality - electric element, 2 x t-pieces, a pair of angled manual valves. The t-piece acts as an extension which allows you to insert the electric element into the towel rail as well as attach the valves. The use of 2nd t-piece provided is optional, for those who want to create symmetry with the valves on both sides of the rail. The element can be installed on either the left or right hand side of the towel rail - whichever is better for your set up.
The Element
The Talus digital element gives you flexibility and control over your heating system. The thermostatic heating system allows the radiator temperature range to be selected from 40-65 degrees, in 5 degree increments. The LED lights indicate the temperature setting, for at-a-glance checking.
Operation:When set to Comfort mode, the thermostat keeps the internal temperature of the radiator or towel rail at the value set by you (using the + and – buttons). Boost mode can be used to increase the element to the maximum temperature for a period of 2 hours (not exceeding 65°C), at the end of the Boost the element returns to Comfort mode.
There are also 2 different Timer modes: 12 hour and 24 hour. When set to these modes, the element will use Boost for 2 hours, then return to Comfort mode for either 10 or 22 hours – depending on your selection – after this time, the element will use Boost again. This sequence is repeated endlessly. The final operation mode is Standby/Antifreeze. In this mode the element will not operate (meaning it won’t provide any heat to the radiator or towel rail) unless the temperature drops below 10°C, where it will use the antifreeze mode to activate the element in order to prevent any internal liquid from freezing.
Full Installation Instructions and User Guide will be provided with the element.
Delta (Δ) Ratings Explained
What is a Delta (Δ) Rating?
When discussing heat outputs, the Delta rating is the difference between the temperature of the water inside the heating system and the desired temperature of the room.
What does the value represent?
In simple terms, this value is about heat loss. Heating a room only works, if the radiator output exceeds the heat loss of the room.
We use this calculation to make it easy to choose a radiator that will have a heat output that exceeds the heat loss of the room when connected to your heating system type.
If you don't know the room heat loss, you can use our calculator to find out.
What Delta Rating should I use?
- Δ50 = Gas boilers before 2005 / Oil boilers before 2007.
- Δ40 = Gas boilers after 2005 / Oil boilers after 2007.
- Δ30 = Low temperature systems e.g heat pumps.
Watts & BTUs (British Thermal Units) Explained
What is a Watt?
Watts are our main unit of energy/power in the UK, commonly associated with lightbulbs and Home Energy performance certificates (EPCs).
What is a BTU?
BTUs are the unit of measurement used to portray a radiators heat output and a rooms heating requirement. 1 Watt is equal to 3.41 BTUs.
Why are they important?
We buy radiators to heat our homes, right? So, we need a way of knowing if a radiator is powerful enough to heat the room that we are shopping for - Watts and BTUs provide us with a value that makes its easier to compare radiators and ultimately choose the right one for our heating requirement.
Need help figuring out how much heat your room needs?
Our fast and easy-to-use BTU calculator can help you:
- Work out a heating requirement value (in BTUs & Watts) for your room
- Show you in-stock radiator recommendations that can fulfil this heat requirement
