How A Small Bathroom Can Still Work For You

How A Small Bathroom Can Still Work For You

Save space with your heating

At UK Radiators, of course we specialise in designer radiators and heating solutions. Depending on the amount of wall space you have available, a heated towel rail can be a great space-saver because it offers two vital functions: heating the room and storing towels conveniently. If you only have a tall, narrow area on your wall, you could opt for a vertical column radiator to fit the space, or a horizontal one could fit in a low, wide space such as under a window. Column radiators are flexible in this respect so they’re usually an efficient choice.

Make your shower invisible

When you’re trying to maximise space in a cramped bathroom, glass is your friend. A shower cubicle can effectively turn invisible if you use glass for the entire structure from top to bottom, with the base at floor level. If your shower is over the bath, a shower curtain can make it feel like the walls are closing in. A glass screen can let more light pass through the room, and it might also be easier to clean.

Choose slimline fittings

Remember not to get too hung up on conventional sizes for things like sinks and counters. You can create the illusion of pushing the wall back by fitting shallow cupboards and units, with just enough handy storage space but without dominating the room. A wide, squared-edged sink can be much more economical than a deep, rounded one in terms of space. If you have space behind the wall, you can even hide the water tank and pipework for your toilet inside the wall, having the seat directly against the wall. This creates a smart, minimalist finish while increasing the amount of free floor space.
