Material

Steel offers the lowest price tag compared to other materials, but it also offers the most diversity in terms of colour and style. Steel is a highly durable material which is important as towel rails are going to be the victims of some knocks and bangs over time and you want them to withstand that.

Style

Gone are the days when the word “Traditional” implied old aged and boring. Like column radiators, traditional style towel radiators are a timeless classic that have never gone out of style. Ideal for those vintage themed bathrooms, the traditional style offers a steel frame with a column radiator at its centre.

Colour

White is a true classic. Ideal for those who like to switch up their décor from time to time, a white towel rail won’t restrict your interior design spirit. This gloss powder-coated finish is perfectly even and looks gorgeous with the simple wipe of a cloth. White can be perceived as boring or safe, but in reality, it gives a clean and fresh impression in your bathroom. Plus, with our wide range of radiator valves and accessories, you can add a touch of colour to the radiator without it becoming overbearing within the room.

Heat Source

This electric towel rail comes with an electric element and works completely independently from any other heating system you may have in your home and so is ideal for those bathrooms where you can’t access a central heating system or maybe guest bathrooms rooms that very rarely used. This independence is ideal for summer, providing warm toasty towels without turning on the boiler - saving energy and money.

Accessories

This towel rail is provided with everything required to hang the rail on the wall - brackets & masonry fixings, chrome bleed valve and blanking plug as well as all the accessories needed for the electric functionality. The electric kit includes an electric element, liquid inhibitor and instructions, an extra blanking plug for the bottom entry that won’t have the element installed. The element can be installed on either the left or right hand side of the towel rail - whichever is better for your set up.

The Element

The Talus digital element gives you flexibility and control over your heating system. The thermostatic heating system allows the radiator temperature range to be selected from 45-65°C, in 5°C increments. The LED lights indicate the temperature setting, for at-a-glance checking.

Operation:

Standby Mode - When the element is power connected, it will default to standby mode. This will be indicated by a blue light on the power button.

Heating Mode - Press the Power button to enter heating mode, a red light will appear on the button. Then use the T button to select the temperature, the lights at the top will indicate the chosen temperature. 1st light = 45°C, 2nd light = 50°C, 3rd light = 55°C etc.

Boost/Program Mode - There are 3 boost setting available:

  • Boost 2hr - shown by a red light on the clock button. The element is turned on for a 2 hour period and the temperature is automatically controlled as to not exceed 65°C. After the 2 hour period the element will return to standby.
  • B1 Program - shown by a blue light on the clock button. The element enters Boost 2hr (above). After the 2 hour period the element will return to standby for 22 hours. This schedule then repeats.
  • B2 Program - shown by a red light on the clock button. The element enters Boost 2hr (above). After the 2 hour period the element will return to standby for 10 hours, then Boost 2hr is activated again, followed by 10hrs in standby. This schedule then repeats.

Error Mode - if the liquid temperature drops below -10°C or above 85°C then the element will enter error mode, this is shown by slow flashing red lights. If this happens, please switch off the power source and contact and electrician.

Frost Protection - If the liquid drops below 7°C the element will turn on and begin to heat

Full Installation Instructions and User Guide will be provided with the element.

*The electric heating element supplied with this electric towel rail must be installed by a registered competent electrician. Any faults developed due to incorrect installation will not be covered under the product warranty. The suggested fuse size is calculated based on a 230V supply and whilst 230V is the nominal voltage given to homes in the UK, the actual voltage supply can vary. The registered competent electrician carrying out the installation will determine the appropriate size of fuse to use for the installation.

Watts & BTUs (British Thermal Units) Explained

What is a Watt?

Watts are our main unit of energy/power in the UK, commonly associated with lightbulbs and Home Energy performance certificates (EPCs).

What is a BTU?

BTUs are the unit of measurement used to portray a radiators heat output and a rooms heating requirement. 1 Watt is equal to 3.41 BTUs.

Why are they important?

We buy radiators to heat our homes, right? So, we need a way of knowing if a radiator is powerful enough to heat the room that we are shopping for - Watts and BTUs provide us with a value that makes its easier to compare radiators and ultimately choose the right one for our heating requirement.

Need help figuring out how much heat your room needs?

Our fast and easy-to-use BTU calculator can help you:

  • Work out a heating requirement value (in BTUs & Watts) for your room
  • Show you in-stock radiator recommendations that can fulfil this heat requirement

Delta (Δ) Ratings Explained

What is a Delta (Δ) Rating?

When discussing heat outputs, the Delta rating is the difference between the temperature of the water inside the heating system and the desired temperature of the room.

What does the value represent?

In simple terms, this value is about heat loss. Heating a room only works, if the radiator output exceeds the heat loss of the room.

We use this calculation to make it easy to choose a radiator that will have a heat output that exceeds the heat loss of the room when connected to your heating system type.

If you don't know the room heat loss, you can use our calculator to find out.

What Delta Rating should I use?

  • Δ50 = Gas or oil boiler with a flow temperature of around 75°C and a return temperature of around 65°C.
  • Δ30 = Low temperature systems e.g heat pumps.
